Meet Our Staff
Gregory James Edwards is Founder and Senior Pastor of Resurrected Life Community Church and President and Chief Executive Officer of the Resurrected Community Development Corporation. Under his leadership the church has experience exponential spiritual and numeric growth, purchased church facilities including its current house of worship, an adjacent educational facility, parking lots and initiated a multi-phase renovation project. His holistic approach to ministry birthed the Resurrected Community Development Corporation wherein the Resurrected Life Children’s Academy, the James Lawson Freedom School and the Campaign For Change community organizing initiative were established. Pastor Edwards work with the Children’s Defense Fund, recently procured funding for freedom schools established through the Lehigh Valley.
He is an alumnus of Geneva College, the University of Delaware Graduate School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, Drew Theological School and New Brunswick Theological Seminary and has earned the Bachelor of Science in Urban Ministry Leadership, Master of Divinity, the Doctorate of Ministry, and certification in Community Economic Development.
A member of several regional and national boards, Pastor Edwards was identified by the historic Martin Luther King International Chapel of Morehouse College for induction in the College of Pastoral Leadership. The induction follows a year-long Lilly Endowment sponsored fellowship for research study and international travel to advance the chapel’s mission of creating ambassadors of peace for the Beloved World Community.
Pastor Edwards has lectured in colleges and universities, presented to the faith based, corporate and nonprofit sectors, has been featured in TIME Magazine and recently served as Guest Chaplain to the Pennsylvania State Senate.
Called a poet, preacher, prophet of justice and fierce freedom fighter, his greatest joy is cultivating persons to experience a resurrected life; a life reconciled to God and others through Christ, and free from the multiple forces of oppression pervasive in family, community, society and self.
Pastor Edwards is married to the winsome and beautiful Pastor Denyse T. Edwards, and has four gifted children, one daughter-in-love, and a precocious grandson.
Phyllis Alexander, Vice President of the Resurrected Community Development Corporation (RCDC). Phyllis is a skilled coalition builder with multicultural experience gained through relationship with the National Coalition Building Institute, an international social justice/ social change organization.
In 2003, Phyllis Alexander joined local government and worked as the Weed and Seed Coordinator responsible for coordinating the transformation of a community of 12,000 into a safe vibrant community of choice, rather than a community of last choice. Weed and Seed ended and in 2011, Phyllis became the City of Allentown's Neighborhood Coordinator responsible for supporting all City of Allentown neighborhoods. As the Neighborhood Coordinator, Phyllis is responsible for increasing the social capital and capacity of residents, neighborhoods and neighborhood groups to solve their problems. Phyllis is one of the founding board members of Resurrected Community Development Corporation and is committed to working within like groups as well as across difference to effectively and successfully deliver the courageous and daring vision and mission of RCDC.
Phyllis has a Bachelor's of Science in Economics and a Master's of Science in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University.
Lauren currently serves as Grants Coordinator for the City of Allentown, previously serving as Deputy Director of Community and Economic Development for the City. Prior to 2003, Lauren worked 19 years as Director of Literacy and Job Training as well as administrator of the Allentown campus of Lehigh Carbon Community College. Lauren served on the Allentown Human Relations Commission for over 12 years. She also volunteered for the Aspires Mentoring Program, the Latino Leadership Alliance/Hispanic Business Council, and she previously co-chaired the Allentown Commission to End Chronic Homelessness.
She has a Masters degree from Lehigh University and Bachelors from Cedar Crest College. She has been married to her husband Marc for over 32 years and has two daughters, Danielle and Paula, son in law, Liam and grandson, Wells.
Camilla Greene For over twenty-five years she was a teacher of English in urban and suburban high schools in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. As Senior Associate with the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University, she co-founded the Center for Urban Excellence. Currently, she is a consultant with the San Francisco Center for Effective Small Schools, and a Senior Associate with the Oregon Center for Educational Equity. She is the recipient of two awards: the Black Alliance for Educational Options' (BAEO) Most Valuable Person Award and The Coalition of Essential Schools Transformational Leadership Award. Currently, in addition to serving as secretary on the Resurrected Community Development Corporation Board, she serves on the board of trustees of Seven Generations Charter School in Emmaus, PA.
She is a proud, native New Yorker: born and raised in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant community; she has been married to Thomas J. Greene for 47 years, and is the mother of Kelli and Robert, and grandmother of Caleb.
Hasshan Batts (www.coachbatts.com) is a survivor, healer, son, father and friend.
Hasshan is a Social Worker with the Neighborhood Health Centers of the Lehigh Valley and the Director of Education and Training for Practitioners Research and Scholarship Institute (www.prasi.org), founding member of The Society for the Healing and Study of Historical Trauma and a leading expert in trauma informed care, resiliency, restorative practices, reentry, team care and compassion and community engagement models.
Batts holds a Joint Master degree in Social Work from North Carolina A &T University and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is scheduled to complete his Doctoral Degree in Health Sciences from Nova Southeastern University in Florida in August, 2016.
In the course of over twenty five year of experience in accounting and systems control. Sharon has used her skill to improve profitability, services, and internal processes in the business, and Not for Profit industries. Sharon is also a Certified Health Coach where she assist individual to optimize their health and well-being. Currently, Sharon is employed by PPL Electric Utilities Corporation in Allentown Pennsylvania. Sharon works in the Customer Program Group as a Customer Program Specialist where she implements and manages energy conservation programs for both residential and business segment. Sharon is currently pursuing a degree in naturopathic medicine.
Sharon earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Allentown College of St Francis DeSales and her M.B.A from DeSales University. She was also successful in passing the CPA exam and is a Certified Control Assessor (CCSA). She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, American Management Association, The Organization for Work Improvement Processes National and Delaware Valley Chapter, and a former member of the TAWPI Remittance Check Council. Sharon serves on several boards in different capacity as follows: Board member for Resurrected Community Development Corporation and Lehigh University S.T.A. R Academy, and Treasurer for the Martin Luther & Coretta Scott King Memorial Project. Sharon is a former chairperson of the City of Allentown Redevelopment Authority.
Co-founder of R2C2 Inc., Kevin was born on the Island of Jamaica before migrating to Northern New Jersey at the age of three. He attended school at Penn State Lehigh Valley where he finished with an Associates Degree in Business Management. Kevin spent 7 years as an analyst for T-Mobile USA collecting marketing data to implement strategies to further the brand. He also assisted in staff development and new hire training, new system development and direct sales with customers. Understating the need to create change, he then decided to impact the community on a personal level. In the last three years he has been involved in the community providing seminars, mentoring youth, and personal development. He currently sits on the Board of The Rising Tide Community Loan Fund and is the chair of the Resource Committee, a subsidiary of CACLV. Kevin is also a current member of the Wealth Disparity Task Force, which is a committee put together to combat wealth gaps in the Lehigh Valley. As the COO of Lehigh Valley Faces Marketing and Development Firm, he works with many businesses as a consultant, providing innovative and strategic plans to enhance or develop one’s brand. Kevin’s focus is to always be the bridge between community and business in effort to drive high standards and success for all.
Franklin is the Production Dir /Facilities Mgr for the Jewish Community Centers Association. He serves as an Elder and Biblical Counselor at Resurrected Community Development Corporation. His interests are reading, counseling, and cooking.
Denyse Therese Edwards serves as the Director of Resurrected Life Children's Academy (RCLA) and manages most of the organization's programs including the Annual Summer Back to School Bash which meets the needs of 800 students and families in the community, and a Family Fun Feast held each Fall within the community. Additional programs include an Annual Educational Toy Drive and Community Dinner at Christmas time.
Denyse is also a Co-Founder of both the Resurrected Life Community Church (RLCC) and the Resurrected Community Development Corporation (RCDC). She is happily married to Rev. Gregory J. Edwards and together they have four children, a daughter-in-law, and a wonderful grandson. She was born in Trinidad and enjoys serving the children, women and families of her community.
